Welcome to Open Hands

Open Hands is a registered charity in the UK that relieves poverty in Romania. Open Hands charity was formed in 2008 following a volunteer trip to Oradea in Romania. We witnessed first hand the horrible conditions that abandoned, poor and disabled children live in. We were shocked to discover that many children and young people are still suffering in Romania's institutions. Open Hands charity is a group of close friends dedicated to helping abandoned and destitute children and young people in Romania. We support the poorest and most disadvantaged in this country. We support families living in extreme poverty through a variety of ways including house renovations, food parcels, and purchasing livestock.

We build playgrounds for disadvantaged children, including those living in independent children's homes and daycare centres for special needs children. Open Hands worked alongside our friends from Fara charity to establish one of the first autism centres in northern Romania. We also run popular Christmas shoe box appeals and deliver these Christmas parcels to needy children and adults in Romania each year.

If you would like to support our work in Romania you can donate securely on this website.

Thank you for your support!
